Description
The Baby Sense Sling is the most versatile carrier on the market, used from birth (including premature babies) to toddlers. It has been designed to encourage mums and dads to “wear” their baby in the most optimal position, which is curled up warm and snug, close to you. Your baby now has the benefit of being calmed in a familiar womb-like environment. Carrying your baby is very important, especially in the early days, as your baby gets used to their new surroundings. Later when they are ready to explore the world around them, your baby can sit upright and look out of the Sling.
- Breathable: 100% cotton sling with limited padding to minimize the risk of overheating
- Safe: European Union and SABS approved
- Practical: One size fits all with fully adjustable strap for sharing with other caregivers. It can be worn on the left or right shoulder
- Versatile: Five carrying positions
- Comfortable: Spreads the weight of the baby across your back, and the extra padding on the shoulder pad provides maximum comfort
Why Use
The Baby Sling mimics the calming environment of the womb. The feeling of being rocked, the soft, snug feel of the sling and the sounds of mom’s body (heartbeat and voice) helps to calm the baby. This sling allows you to carry your newborn in the same position they have assumed in the womb, making it easy to make eye contact and see your baby’s face, whilst still giving you the freedom to bond and fall in love over and over again.
- Sleep: The movement stimulation, as well as the snug hold of the sling, promotes sleep. Evidence shows that babies carried during the day sleep better at night. When your little one falls asleep in the sling you can easily put them down in their cot, so that they begin to associate their cot with falling asleep. As your baby gets older, you can use the sling for awake times as well as outings.
- Calm: There is overwhelming evidence that babies who are carried on their mothers are significantly calmer than babies who are not. The Baby Sense® Baby Sling mimics the calming environment of the womb. The feeling of being rocked, the soft, snug feel of the sling and the sounds of mum’s body (heartbeat and voice) helps to calm your baby.
- Convenience: Carrying a baby, as well as trying to do essential chores is a balancing act. The Baby Sense® Baby Sling keeps the baby content while freeing up mum’s hands to ‘get things done’. The convenience goes as far as allowing mums to feed discreetly while wearing her baby.
How To Use
Preparation of your sling

- Always check your sling fabric and rings for wear or damage before you start the sling preparation and set-up
- Thread the strap through both the rings
- Pass the strap over the top ring and back between the two rings with the Baby Sense logo facing outwards
- Always ensure that a minimum of 7cm of strap is pulled through
- The right place for the rings is just under your shoulder. At the beginning it is advisable to set the rings as high as possible on top of your shoulder. When you adjust the sling, the rings will come down to the right place

- Newborn position: Once the sling is comfortably over your shoulders, open the sling and lower your baby into it. Their head can be either facing towards the rings or in the other direction depending on what is most comfortable for you and your baby
- Feeding position: Position your baby in the newborn position, facing towards the breast. With one arm lift your baby towards the nipple and raise your shirt and present your breast with one free hand
- Social position: As your baby gets older he may want to see out. Do the same as with the newborn position, but instead of cradling your baby against you, alter the position of the padded sides to allow him free view
- Upright position: Lift the baby up and hold her against you free shoulder. Slide her into the sling pouch. You can put her on your front belly to belly or on the hip. Place the baby’s legs to the wide frog-leg position: the knees higher than her bottom. Pull the upper edge of the sling up behind baby’s neck and with a small baby even over the neck. An older baby can keep her hands out, if she wants. Make sure that there is plenty of fabric under the baby’s bottom and the lower rail of the sling reaches both knees. Gather all excessive fabric under baby’s bottom so that the fabric over baby’s back is smooth
- Hip hold: Use this position from six months onwards, or once your baby is sitting independently. Place the shoulder pad on the opposite shoulder from the hip you carry your baby on. Raise your baby to your shoulder on the side he will be carried on. Guide his legs through the sling so that his bottom sits on your hip with his legs straddling you. Make sure that there is plenty of fabric under the baby’s bottom and the lower rail of the sling reaches both knees. Adjust the height of the top padding of the sling to make your baby secure and you comfortable
